Alec Soth’s studio is home to a ping pong table, and some fearsome players in not just Alec, but also his studio assistants Carrie and Charlie. Wing Young Huie’s studio is the same way. So is Peter Haakon Thompson’s studio. (Not to mention the artists’ resources center where Noah and I work.)
In fact, I’d go as far as saying that having a basic mastery of table tennis in Minneapolis in the early 21st Century is as much a requirement of artists as a basic mastery of golf is for corporate plutocrats everywhere.
