Actually, this isn’t an unknown image (although it is, in true Tumblr teenager fashion, uncredited and stripped of context, which is why I’m not bothering to link back to wherever it came from). This is the back page of the 1974 edition of The Whole Earth Catalog, and the landscape is that of Menlo Park, in San Mateo County, near where the WEC kept its offices in the 1970s. This quote, in particular, is the favorite of a certain Northern California billionaire that got his start right about the same time the WEC was folding, and who now keeps his offices at 1 Infinite Loop in nearby Cupertino, California, fifteen miles east on the Junipero Serra Freeway.
