I have fixed up The Mediator for spring, and took her out for her first ride of the year last night.
My bicycle is so named for the aging silver sticker on the the frame that says “Manufactured for THE MEDIATORS INC NYC 10065.” I believe the Mediators were a shadowy cabal of meddlers that operated out of the Upper East Side during the Lindsay administration, cycling around the East 60s on their cheap blue cruisers convincing bickering couples on the street to get married and intervening in hot dog cart transactional disputes.
